Welcome to EBT!
Espoo Basket Team (EBT) is a basketball club based in Espoo, Finland, mainly in the south-western district (Suur- Espoonlahti) area. The club has basketball activities from pre-schoolers to adult amateur teams and adult competitive activities.
EBT has a full-time executive director, an administrative manager and six full-time coaches. In addition to these, the club has about 60 other coaches and dozens of volunteer parents (team managers, treasurers, parent coaches, etc.) without whom the club would not run.
The strategic management of the club is the responsibility of the club’s board. The Executive Director is responsible for the operational management of the club.
Team
Most of the activities take place in the age group team. Teams have a coach(es), a team leader, and possible treasurer. In addition, parents of all players are needed to help organize match events. The more active the team’s background group, the better the environment the children get for their basketball hobby..
Training
Most of the activities take place in the age group team. Teams have a coach(es), a team leader, and possible treasurer. In addition, parents of all players are needed to help organize match events. The more active the team’s background group, the better the environment the children get for their basketball hobby.
Equipment
At basketball practice, everyone must have indoor exercise equipment: indoor shoes, shorts/sweatpants and a t-shirt, as well as their own water bottle. It is also worth having your own ball with you. The coach of the team may add other possible additions to the instructions.
The role of parents
The primary task of parents is to encourage, transport and pay for their child’s hobby. At EBT, however, we want to emphasize that active parental involvement enables the team’s high-quality activities. Parents are needed for a number of volunteer tasks, including collective work and buffet responsibilities at home matches. The club’s joint volunteer efforts include organizing the Espoo Moves Tournament together with Tapiola Honka.
If it is not possible for a family to participate in joint volunteer work, it is clear that the work falls on the shoulders of the other parents. The lifeblood of a good team is therefore active and communal background groups.
Playing
EBT teams participate in league activities under the Finnish Basketball Association. Depending on the number of players, there may be more than one team under one age group team. The goal is to have a sufficient number of matches of the right level for all players to ensure development. The competitive basketball season lasts from October to April. Depending on the number of players in the team, there are matches about once a week. In addition to league matches, the team can also participate in tournaments and camps, which are not included in the club’s activity fees. These are agreed upon together with the team’s coaching and parents.
The responsibility for organizing match events lies with the home team and its parents.
Operating fees
Each player is obliged to pay an annual operating fee to the club, the amount of which is determined by the club’s board of directors. With the operating fees, the club finances its largest expenses, such as gym shifts, coaching and joint administrative expenses. Operating fees are sent by email from the EBT office in two or eight installments.
Payment of the operating fee entitles you to participate in EBT. The EBT operating fee does not cover the following costs, which are paid by the player:
- A license from the Finnish Basketball Association that entitles you to play in the leagues of the Finnish Basketball Association
- Insurance
- Possible tournament costs that the team collects from its members
- Training and playing equipment (balls, shoes, shorts, etc.)
- Travel expenses and possible national team fees
- Judge fees
- Camp fees
- Uniform for U15 and older age groups
- Club membership fee 60 €
If a player voluntarily takes a break (e.g. during the summer) from activities offered to them by the team, this does not entitle him to a discount on the operating fee. If a player is injured and the training and game break lasts at least one month due to the injury, the player or their parents have the right to apply for a reduction in the season’s fee. The application should be addressed to the club’s office.

MyClub
EBT and the team are communicated through the MyClub program. The player joins the club and a team through MyClub.
The MyClub program maintains the club’s membership register, so it is important that everyone keeps their own information up to date.
